One airport for two cities: the history of FMO
In the 1960s Münster and Osnabrück decided to build one joint commercial airport instead of two small airfields. Greven was chosen as the site, and FMO began scheduled operations in the early 1970s.
Since then the airport has been expanded step by step, including a second terminal. Today it is known mainly for holiday flights and connections to major hubs, and many travellers from Münsterland and the Osnabrück region value it as a pleasantly small airport with short walking distances.
