Cochem on the Moselle with Reichsburg castle – airport transfer from the Moselle Valley to Frankfurt Airport

You have spent a week among the vineyards of the Moselle. The wine was excellent, the views even better – and now your flight leaves from Frankfurt Airport tomorrow morning. The only question left: how do you get there with your suitcases, without a stressful journey across half of Rhineland-Palatinate?

This guide explains your options from Cochem, Bernkastel-Kues, Traben-Trarbach and the rest of the Moselle Valley, what a door-to-door transfer really costs, and one mistake many international travellers make when booking.

First things first: Frankfurt-Hahn is not Frankfurt Airport

This catches out visitors every single week. Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) sits in the Hunsrück hills, around 120 km west of Frankfurt. Frankfurt Airport (FRA) – the large international hub with long-haul flights – is right next to the city of Frankfurt am Main.

Before you plan anything, check your booking confirmation for the airport code. If it says FRA, you need to cross almost the entire region to get there. That is exactly where a planned transfer makes the difference.

Why getting from the Moselle to FRA is harder than it looks

The Moselle Valley is beautiful precisely because it is quiet and winding. That also makes it tricky to leave:

  • Few direct connections. Many wine villages have no train station at all. From places such as Bernkastel-Kues or Traben-Trarbach, public transport usually means a bus first, then at least one change of train.
  • Early flights. Long-haul departures from Frankfurt often leave in the morning, when regional connections are sparse.
  • Luggage. Stairs, platform changes and full regional trains are no fun with two large suitcases and a case of wine.
  • Driving yourself. A rental car means a one-way fee or a return trip, plus parking and fuel – and you arrive at the terminal already tired.

The door-to-door alternative

With a private airport transfer, your chauffeur collects you directly from your hotel, holiday apartment or winery and drives you to the terminal at FRA. No changes, no timetable, no lifting suitcases onto trains.

At FlyRide, you travel in a clean, comfortable Mercedes-Benz – a business sedan for couples or the spacious 7-seat Mercedes V-Class for families and small groups. Child seats are available free of charge.

What does a Moselle – Frankfurt Airport transfer cost?

Our pricing is deliberately simple: €1.80 per kilometre as a fixed price – the same for the Mercedes sedan and the 7-seat V-Class. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so it does not change whether you travel alone or with six others.

Typical examples to Frankfurt Airport (FRA):

Travelling as a group of four? Split between you, a transfer from Cochem works out at roughly €65 per person – door to door, with all the luggage you need. You will find more towns, including the Hunsrück and Middle Rhine, on our Hunsrück, Moselle & Hahn region page.

How early should you leave?

Plan your pickup with enough buffer. As a rule of thumb:

  1. Take the driving time from the table above.
  2. Add around 30 minutes for traffic around Koblenz, Mainz or on the approach to the airport.
  3. Aim to reach the terminal about 2 hours before a European flight and 3 hours before a long-haul flight.

Example: a long-haul flight from Frankfurt at 11:00, leaving from Cochem. Arrival at the terminal by 08:00, driving time about 100 minutes plus buffer – so a pickup at around 05:50 is a sensible choice.

Arriving at Frankfurt? It works the other way too

Starting your Moselle holiday? Your chauffeur meets you in the arrivals hall at Frankfurt Airport with a name sign. We track your flight, so an early landing or delay is no problem. 60 minutes of waiting time after landing are always included. Then simply sit back and watch the landscape change from city skyline to river valley.

How to book in three steps

  1. Enter your route – pickup address in the Moselle Valley, Frankfurt Airport as your destination, date and time.
  2. Choose your vehicle – sedan or 7-seat V-Class, and let us know if you need child seats.
  3. Confirm – you receive your booking confirmation with your fixed price. For arrivals, simply add your flight number.
